What is Atlas?

Atlas refers to a feature designed to provide users with a high-level, geospatial overview of their activities and their respective impacts. It acts as a mapping and visualization tool that helps users see the geographic distribution of their conservation, restoration, or nature-based efforts based on the context in which they are viewing it. For example, a user can view their Atlas at their Organization level to view all activities within their organization, or at a Pact level to view all of the activities shared to a specific Pact.

Key Features

Geospatial Visualization: Atlas enables users to view Activities on an interactive map alongside of related metric summaries, providing a clear, visual representation of where environmental actions are taking place as well as the status of implementation

Comprehensive Overview: By viewing all projects and activities in one place, Atlas serves as a portfolio overview tool, making it easier for users to manage multiple initiatives, track progress, and understand how their efforts contribute to larger environmental goals.

Interactive Mapping: Users can interact with the map to explore detailed information about each project or activity, including filtering the map by a metric, and revealing activities that contribute to metric summaries. Conversely, users can explore the atlas by Activities on the map to reveal the metric implementation to which the selected activity contributes.

Data-Driven Decision Making: The geospatial data provided in Atlas helps organizations make informed decisions about where to focus future restoration efforts, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.

In summary, Atlas in FieldDoc is a powerful in-app mapping tool that helps users visualize and manage the geographic distribution of their environmental work, making it easier to track progress, communicate impact, and plan future initiatives.

Create an Atlas

Atlases are non-editable. They are automatically generated within FieldDoc based on the context through which you open it up. The Atlas visualizes a filter based on the data that you have access to in your account. For example, if you are within a Project and open the Atlas, you will see all Activities associated with that Project. Similarly, if you open up the Atlas within a Pact or at your organization level, you can view the Activities, Metrics, and footprint based on the Activities associated with that context.

If you want to edit your geospatial data, use the Map Editorfeature.

Components of an Atlas

Regardless of the filtered view, your Atlas contains the same components.
