Programmatic Metrics

General FieldDoc Users can only access Programmatic metrics once they have created a Pact and linked records from their Activities Portfolio to it. Programmatic metrics are the metrics that a program is tracking. They may ask grant applicants or participants to use to track progress toward planned values within specific activities. General users can only access Program pact lists after a connection between the two entities has been made. These connections are made via Pacts.

Overview: Metrics & Track Progress

In FieldDoc, you can track proposed or planned metric targets and then track progress toward implementation for those metrics. The first step is to add your metrics and set the planned_value. Then, as you make progress toward implementation, you can update that progress within FieldDoc. The progress will be tracked via a progress indicator. Once an activity is installed to specification, or the performance period has closed, you can mark the activity record as complete. All of these steps represent data management work that you will complete within FieldDoc.

Adding Programmatic Metrics to your Activity

Metrics are added and tracked within each activity record. Metrics tracked across activities are rolled up and counted collectively within the Pact that they are all associated with. Therefore, in order to get your Pact Summary metric rollups

Adding Programmatic Metrics to Activities happens after you link your Activities to a Pacts.

🌱 Check Out Create a Pact for how to create your Pact.

Add metrics from single-activity records

Once an activity record is added to a Pact, the programmatic metrics are accessible within the activity record itself. If you want to enter your programmatic metrics within each activity, you can do that!

You will return to the Activity record within your Portfolio then navigate to the Metrics view with the Edit Activity modal. Select the relevant Pact under Programmatic Metrics. Then select all relevant metrics that you want to associate with this record. Enter in the planned value that you will achieve by the end of the project period.

📘

Tracking progress towards implementation!

You will return to this metric to track progress towards implementation throughout the period of performance. Progress is assumed to be 0 when you associate the metric with the pact. If you have already made progress that you want to demonstrate to your funder, enter in that value in the Implementation field.

  1. From the Pact Activities tab, enter into a Activity via its summary view.
  2. Open the Edit Activity modal by clicking on the vertical three ellipses.
  3. Switch to the Metrics Tab. Under Programmatic Metrics select the relevant Pact. The associated Programmatic Metrics are not available for you to select.
  4. Check all programmatic metrics that you want to attach to this activity record. Enter in the planned value that you intend to achieve by the end of the project period.
  5. Save your work!
  6. Return to the Pact to open a different Activity and add programmatic metrics.

Add Metrics via Pacts table view

Speed up your data entry and management by using the metrics table view within the Pact. Through this view, each row corresponds to a single programmatic metric and the related activity record. If you are tracking two programmatic metrics for one activity, then you will will have two rows of data. For example, if you are tracking the number of trees planted and acres under BMP management for an Activity then you will list that Activity in two rows and select the correct metric for each of the rows. Let's try it!

Report progress toward implementation

Once you have entered in your programmatic metrics and planned values, you can track progress toward implementation.
